Armenian Security Council approves border security strategy

  The Armenian National Security Council approved on Saturday a strategy of border security and integrated management of the state border, Armenia News reports. The new strategy provides for strengthening of the border security, border infrastructure modernization and integrated management of the state border.

Russia introduces a new ship to the Caspian Fleet

Russia's naval forces have introduced a new rocket ship to the Caspian Fleet. APA  reports that the name of the ship is "Grad Sviyazsk". Built in Tatarstan, it has a length of 74.1 meters, width of 11 meters, height of 6.57 meters and speed of 25 miles.

Iran tests new "Fateh-110" rockets

The minister of Defence of Iran said that tests of the new-generation "Fateh-110" rocket have taken place, Trend reports.The new medium-range rocket is 9 meters long and weighs 3,500 kilos. Tests of the "Giyam-1" rocket also took place two days ago.

President of Turkey confirms new head of General Staff

General Ishiik Koshaner, the present head of Turkey's ground forces, is to become the new head of General Staff of the army says Trend.  Turkish President Abdullah Gul confirmed Koshaner's apointment at a meeting with the minister of defence, Vedzhi Genule, and the current head, Ilker Bashbuga, who is retiring on August 30. Russia may create military base in Turkey

Russia is interested in basing its vessels abroad, reports RIA-Novosti, citing the head of the Russian Navy Vladimir Vysotsky. He said Turkey was one of the countries with good port infrastructure, and the ports are situated near strategically placement zones of the Russian navy forces. Georgia will conduct maritime exercises with Turkish coastguard vessel

French frigate to visit Georgia's Batumi

A frigate of the French national fleet, Jean De Vienne, will visit the Georgia port of Batumi on July 8. The ship will stay until July 11 and will participate in joint military training with Georgian forces, News Georgia reports. French officials will also meet representatives of the Georgian Defense ministry. Sailors from the two countries will also play a football match. Georgia and France signed a memorandum on economic cooperation last month. The deal involves cooperation in the spheres of energy, tourism, and investment.
