Dagestan nullifies auctions worth 550 million rubles

 The Directorate of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in Dagestan has checked 248 auctions organized by Novostroy, RIA Dagestan reports.Auctions worth over 550 million rubles were nullified for violating the rules. Organizers of auctions are often making violations in composing documents. Such violations are a reason for nullification.

Russian Constitutional Court will not fine protesters

The Russian Constitutional Court believes that excess of protesters at a mass meeting is not a reason to punish its organizers, RIA Novosti reports.A Tula local, Sergey Katkov, filed a complaint according to article 20.2 of the Constitution on meetings due to excess of people protesting. Judge Valery Zorkin read his decision out on Friday.

Obama still expects to meet Putin

US President Barack Obama is still eager to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and for relations with Russia to develop at the same pace, the White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.Putin will not attend the G8 summit in Camp David on May 18-19 due to business forming a new government. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will attend the summit instead.

District center head killed in Kabardino-Balkaria

Unidentified assailants have killed Jamal Gemmuyev, head of the district center of Tyrniauz in Kabardino-Balkaria, RIA Novosti reports.The 37-year old district head was found dead in his car at the Baksan-Azau Highway this morning.Jamal Gemmuyev was reappointed to supervise the administration of Turniauz on May 10. He had been a school principal since 1999. 

Turkmen president pardons 1022 people on Revival and Unity Day

Turkmenistan is marking the Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Makhtumkuli Fragi today. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree pardoning convicts. This includes amnesty for 987 Turkmen and 35 foreign citizens.

Iraqi Kurd PM in Turkey amid Baghdad friction

 The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has expressed concerns over anti-Azerbaijani protests in Tabriz, Trend reports.Press secretary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev said on Thursday that some unfriendly forces are trying to harm Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.The Azerbaijani consulate in Tabriz has seen several protests in the city. 

Areshev comments on Russian relations with CIS and security interests

Bahrain condemns Iran

 Foreign Minister of Bahrain Sheikh Halid al-Halifa has demanded Iran to stop interfering the affairs of Bahrain and other Arab states, Trend reports.The statement was made after Iran’s saying that Bahrain is the 14th province of Iran and its population does not want an alliance with Saudi Arabia.The minister emphasized that Iran has been interfering in its affairs since 1979 and has activated recently.

The Supreme Court of South Ossetia has restored Stanislav Kochiyev as Speaker of Parliament, RIA Novosti reports.Kochiyev was initially dismissed on October 5, 2011, after a vote of censure.The official is the leader of the Communist Party of South Ossetia. The party supported President Leonid Tibilov.Zurab Kokoyev of the Unity Party has been the Acting Speaker of Parliament. The party is headed by former Ex-President Eduard Kokoity.

US Congress to consider increase of support for Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Subcommittee for Foreign Operations of the Committee for Appropriations of the US Congress has proposed an increase of support for Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh from $2 million to $5 million. Support for Armenia itself is recommended to total $40 million, rather than $32.5 million.The subcommittee urged the US Administration to develop a strategy for purpose support of the population in Georgia’s Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, where an Armenian community lives.

License for production of weapons at Yerevan toy factory extended

The government of Armenia has extended the license for production of weapons for the Ayk-Mek Company. The company operates at the Elektron Factory in Yerevan, producing weapons since 2004, News Armenia reports.The company used to produce toys.

Electrometallurgy plant to be built in Armavir by 2013

Armavir plans construction of an electrometallurgy factory and launching it in 2013, Yuga.ru reports.Talks on construction of the facility started six years ago. The factory will be 5-storeys tall and will take up 4 hectares of land. About 1,000 locals will work at the factory within less than a year. Staff recruitment will start in May.

Russia and Iran negotiate Caspian Sea problems

 Igor Bratchikov, head of the Russian negotiation group for the Caspian Sea, has met his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzade in Tehran, Trend reports.The sides discussed processes in the Caspian Region, negotiations with other Caspian states and the need for a swift solution of the sea’s status and regional cooperation.Bratchikov said that he arrived in Tehran for consultations on realization of agreements and preparations for the upcoming summit of Caspian states in Russia.
