Agglomeration of Caucasian Mineralnye Vody to become special economic zone

The plenipotentiary envoy of the Russian president to the North Caucasian Federal District, Alexander Khloponin, declared that the development project for the recreational and industrial district of Mineralnye Vody requires the establishment of a new special economic zone with tax benefits, RIA Novosti reports.


Miniralnye Vody district unites several regions of Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia and Stavropol Krai,
Pyatigorsk and Yessentuki included. The project of agglomeration is at the development stage at present. Mr Khloponin expressed hope that the project will become a priority of the North Caucasus Federal development program.

New tourism law comes into force in Russia

On May 5th a new tourism law came into force in Russia, Interfax cites the federal agency for tourism as saying. The bill was adopted by the State Duma on April 27, 2012. President Dmitry Medvedev signed the bill into law on May 3rd.The new law introduces governmental financial guarantees for both tourists and tourist agencies.

Sochi airport returns to normal schedule after delays caused by fog

Most of the passenger flights delayed due to fog have left Sochi airport. At the moment about 400 people are awaiting departure, the press service of "Basel Aero" the operating company of airports in the Krasnodar Territory reported.Earlier, RIA Novosti reported that due to fog the airport could receive 14 flights.By 16:30 Moscow time, visibility in the vicinity of Sochi airport had returned to normal.

Administration of Mineralnye Vody airport holds talks on launching international flights

The administration of the largest North Caucasian international airport in Mineralnye Vody is holding talks with international airlines on launching flights to Italy, Germany and China, RIA-Novosti South reports. The airport administration said that it is holding talks with the Italian company Alitalia,  the German low-cost company Air-Berlin, the Latvian national company AirBaltic and the Turkish Airlines. The company of the UAE, Airarabia is also interested in launching flights to Mineralnye Vody.
