2 students killed in attack on school bus in southern Turkey

Two students were killed and another was wounded in a recent attack on a school bus in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye Province in southern Turkey, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

The bus was ambushed by a gunman as it left the school grounds at the end of the school day.

Three 16-year-old girls were wounded at the scene and taken immediately to a nearby hospital. Two of the girls died and the third is still undergoing treatment.

Reports claimed the gunman had been turned down by one of the girls and shot at the bus in revenge for his unreturned affections. The girl died after the attack.

Police forces have begun a widespread search for the suspect.

Fener fans clash with Turkish police as Galatasaray wins championship

Hundreds of Fenerbahce fans occupied the pitch and clashed with police after traditional rival Galatasaray won the Turkish league championship following a goalless derby on Saturday, Hurriyet reports.The fans broke plastic chairs and threw them at the police who tried to use their shields to protect the players following the final whistle at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul. They also tossed flares at the police.

Two freed Turkish journalists arrive in Tehran from Syria

Two Turkish journalists who were held in Syria for two months before being freed thanks to Iranian mediation arrived in Tehran today, Hurriyet Daily News reports.Reporter Adem Ozkose and cameraman Hamit Coskun were flown to Tehran from Damascus, and the two men told Anatolia they were in good health and were about to meet relatives in the Iranian capital. 

74 year-old man attacked by imam in Turkey

Arif Ekiz, a 74-year-old man from the province of Muğla in southern Turkey, was allegedly beaten up by an imam after warning him not to preach politics during Friday prayers, Hurriyet Daily News has reported. The 28 year-old imam allegedly responded violently when Ekiz told him not bring politics into the mosque, after Ekiz spoke up about the imam’s praising a political party during Friday prayers.
