China to build thermal power plant in Turkey

China will build a new thermal power plant in Turkey, TRT reports.

The corresponding document was signed by the Turkish Energy and Natural Resourses Ministry and Chinese company AVIC. The construction will cost $1 billion.

Freighting was organized from Mersin to the port of Alexandria in Egypt.

Cyprus demands EU stop Turkey building nuclear power plant

Cypriot Speaker of Parliament Yiannakis Omirou has urged the European Parliament to stop Turkey developing its nuclear power plant at Akkuyu on the southern coast, not far from the Cyprus, Armenia Today reports.Omirou met officials of the European Parliament and its committee for environment, healthcare and security of food at Nicosia, on the eve of Cypriot chairmanship at the EU starting in June.

Turkish and US military inspectors to make survey flight to Russia

 A group of inspectors from Turkey and the US will make a survey flight to Russia, according to the International Open Skies Treaty, RIA Novosti reports.The inspection will take place on a Casa CN-235 plane on May 2-5.The Treaty on Open Skies was adopted by 27 states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Helsinki on March 24, 1992. Its goal is to allow states to collect information on military facilities and actions causing concerns.

Canadian company to build nuclear power plant in Turkey

Turkish state company EÜAŞ and Canada’s Candu have signed a deal on construction of a nuclear power plant in Turkey, Trend reports.Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that Turkey is negotiating three models of power plants with three states. He has not clarified the states.Turkey and China signed an agreement on peaceful use of nuclear energy. A similar one was signed between South Korean and Russia.

Viking transport to reach Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Turkey

Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov told his Lithuanian counterpart Andrius Kubilius that the Viking transport line may be expanded to Middle Asia, 1news.az reports.Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the transport line runs through Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania, linking container freighting from the Baltic Region with the transport systems of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and the Caspian Sea. The line is 1753 km long.
