A Eurasian forum devoted to the results of 20 years of independent development of the post-Soviet republics was opened today in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The next session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of
Europe (PACE) has started its work in Strasbourg. Among other issues
to be discussed the parliament will address the territorial conflicts
in the South Caucasus.

"There is no region called Javakhk on Georgia's geographical map", Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said in Yerevan.

"There is however the region of Samtskhe Javakheti, whose population has equal rights irrespective of nationality," he added, PanArmenian reports.

Disproving the claims of ethnic discrimination in the region, the Minister said that "Georgia provides Armenian-language textbooks for 103 Armenian schools, graduates of which can enter Georgian higher education institutions after preparation courses."

The authorities of the information and analysis agency Vestnik Kavkaza had a meeting with journalists from North and South Caucasus, paticipants in the school of journalism organized under the auspices of Pen-club RIAN at RIA Novosti.

The Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, Alexey Vlasov, noted at the meeting that the primary goal is forming a national civil position on issues of the future social, economic and political development of the region.
