Georgia to import grain from Lithuania.

The government of Lithuania has decided to export grain to Georgia,reports Business Georgia. According to the prime minister of Georgia,Nika Gilaury, the export of grain from Lithuania and Ukraine willtotally cover the needs of the country. Negotiations with the USA arealso being held, however.The ambassador of Georgia in Ukraine, Grigol Katamadze, stated that anagreement with Ukraine has been reached and by the end of the year150,000 tons of grain will be imported.Annually, Georgia needs 800,000 tons of grain.

Georgia searches for alternative to Russian wheat

Due to the halting of Russian grain exports, Georgia has started searching for a new supplier, said the president of the company Agrocom, Ketevan Kublashvili, reports Business Georgia. The leading importer says that it is possible to buy grain from Canada or the USA, but it will be much more expensive.Kublashvili said that the situation will affect the cost of bread. The price of Russian grain was 250 dollars a ton and imports from over countries will cost 350-380 dollars a ton.

Yerevan fire service fleet receives Japanese vehicles

The presentation of the new firefighting vehicles granted to Armenia by Japan took place on the square the capital city Yerevan this Wednesday, News-Armenia reports. According to the emergencies minister, Armen Yeritsyan, the new vehicles will help the fire brigades in the capital and in many regions of Armenia. This program is proof of the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.Fire vehicles worth $8 million were delivered by the Japan administration according to an agreement signed in February 2009.

Turkey, Russia and Georgia to open consulates in Gyandzha.

Several states, inclduing Turkey, Russia and Georgia have applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan to open consulates in Gyandzha, reports 1news.az, citing the city's web page. City authorities say permission is likely to be granted, but are unable to say when.

Bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Belarus increases.

Bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Belarus hit 79 million dollars in the last six months - 29.4 % more than for the same period last year, says 1news.az, citing the embassy of Belarus in Azerbaijan. "The amount of imports from Azerbaijan has increased  68.1%. Exports have increased 127.8%," the embassy said.

Iran open to uranium exchange based on Turkey, Brazil deal

Iran believes that a deal on uranium exchange reached with Turkey andBrazil should be the basis of fuel exchange, Foreign MinisterManushehr Mottaki said. He also said he believes that that theexchange process can continue if the USA, France and Russia form newproposals, Iran News reports.Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposed during his visit toIsrael on June 29 a meeting between experts from the USA, Russia, theIAEA and Iran on the issue of nuclear fuel supply for an Iranianresearch reactor.

Belarus pays off debt to Azerbaijan

Belarus has paid off its state debt to Azerbaijan, one that it used topay Gazprom. The debt was to be paid on July 5th but Belarus decidedto pay early, Interfax reports.On June 16th, Russia gave Belarus five days to pay its debt forRussian gas. At the same time Gazprom started reducing gas suppliesproportionally to the size of the debt.

Memorandum on Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline signed

The memorandum on mutual understanding in constructing the Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline, transporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe, has been signed in Ankara, Turkey. According to the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tanner Yildyz, construction should be completed in 2017, the pipeline will supply 11.6 billion cubic m of gas annually, ANS reports.

Azerbaijan and China sign agreement on technical-economic cooperation

Azerbaijani Premier Artur Rasi-Zade has met with member of the Permanent Committee of the Chinese Political Bureau, secretary of the Central Commission of Chinese Communist Party on disciplinary inspection, XI Gocian, on his visit to Baku. The countries signed an agreement on technical-economic cooperation, AzerTag reports.

Nakhchyvan will connect Turkey and Iran

Turkey andIran will have a railroad connection through theAzerbaijani city of Nakhchyvan, the Turkish Minister of Transport andCommunication Binali Yildirim stated at the opening of the newinternational terminal of the airport in Iglyr, 1news.az reports,citing Haberler.com.

Turkey expects investments from South Korea

A cooperation agreement between Turkey and South Korea was signedduring Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to South Korea, TRTreports.Gul was welcomed by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak at the 'BlueHouse' palace. They discussed economic and energy issues and signed 4agreements. Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources TannerYildiz noted in his interview with TRT that the agreement he signedwith his South Korean counterpart will be finalised after the G20summit in Seoul.

US to invite investment in Georgian hydro-energy

USAID has started inviting investments in Georgian hydro-energy. Theproject was presented at the Courtyard Marriott hotel, Trend reports.Approximately $9 billion will be invested in the project. The projectis aiming at adding a renewable part of the energy system, namely anecologically clean 400 megawatt system. USAID said that the projectwill make Georgia energy-independent and it will sell energy to thegrowing Turkish and East European markets.

Iran plans to import water from Tajikistan

Iran will import water from Tajikistan under a trilateral agreement tobe signed by Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, Iranian Minister ofEnergy Medjid Namju said, Trend reports. The water will be used inpower plants. Namju did not clarify the amounts of water to bepurchased.

China and Kazakhstan agree on construction of second stage of pipeline

The Chinese National Gas Corporation and the Kazakh company "GazMunayGas" have signed an agreement on the construction of the second part of the China-Kazakhstan pipeline, ITAR-TASS reports.

Ajaria to cooperate with Turkey in tourism

New power stations to be opened in South Ossetia

The construction of 7 new power stations is planned in South Ossetia, RES reports. The construction of a thermal power plant in Tskhinvali is being discussed. All the projects are the result of the joint enterprise "Gazprom - South Ossetia". The creation of the joint enterprise was approved by signing an agreement on April 6th 2010. 

Turkey will freeze joint projects with Israel

The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz,made a speech at a conference on rational use of energy, organized bythe energy structures of the US and the Turkish-American council. Hesaid that there will be no joint projects until normalization ofrelations with Israel, 6news reports.This includes humanitarian issues, gas projects and other projectsrelated to water resources. Red Crescent to build modern clinic in Azerbaijan

The Red Crescent Society will build a 120-capacity clinic inAzerbaijan after the Ministry of Healthcare approved the initiative,Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Muhammed Bagir Bukhrami said, APAreports.The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen ties between the twocountries. Iran has lifted the visa regime for Azerbaijan and hopesthat Azerbaijan will do the same, the ambassador noted.

Turkey proposes joint production of drones with Azerbaijan

Iranian projects to be realized in Georgia

A meat processing plant will be built in Georgia using Iranian investments, the Georgian Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli said on a working visit to Iran, Business Georgia reports.He said that the sides are planning aiming at extending cooperation in agriculture and intensifying trade relations. ‘Mir’ pipeline construction contract signed off in Iran

The deputy minister of oil and Director-General of the IranianNational Gas Company, Javad Ouji, said that the Board of Directors ofthe Iranian National Oil Company have ratified the contract onconstruction of the 'Mir' pipeline to export Iranian gas to Pakistan,priced at $7 billion, Iran News reports.A high-ranking delegation from the Pakistani Ministry of Oil andNatural Resources will arrive in Tehran for the signing.
